Claire - Day 4 - Dolgellau to Llanidloes 1st July

Leaving Dolgellau behind us we struggled up one of the first steep rides of the day. It was to be the first of a few! Already the sun was bearing down on us making the climb even harder.

Once we caught our breaths back, we headed to Machynlleth where we stopped for a bite to eat. Only half way on our journey we realised that it was going to be a long day. Ahead of us lay the steep 510m climb to the highest point of the Lon Las Cymru Route! We were slightly unaware of how hard this would be...On finally reaching the summit we collapsed in a heap! With words of inspiration for each other we gathered ourselves together to ride the last remaining 14 miles to Llanidloes.

Route 8 took us through the Coedwig Hafren Forest, where from we sped rapidly downhill to Llanidloes. Reaching Llanidloes about 5pm we found Dol-llys Farm campsite and the rest of the team. It had been a hard day and we were all cream crackered! For a treat we went to the pub and had a well deserved steak and chips!! After we headed back to the campsite for an early night and an early rise....
