Claire - Day 3 - Porthmadog to Dolgellau 30th June

Leaving the midges and the campsite behind us we headed up the windy hill around the Ffestiniog Railway to begin our ride to Dolgellau. Myself and Leighton managed to lose James on a downhill run when the Route 8 took a sharp turn off to the right, taking us along a country lane. On the B4410 we were fortunate to meet back up with James and start another uphill ride!

Unfortunately at Rhyd James damaged his knee, was pushed off the road by a 4x4, damaged his gears and then had to be whisked off to hospital by the support vehicle.

Deciding to carry on we headed for Trawsfynydd. As we passed the nuclear power station in all its glory we came across the village and decided to stop for a bite to eat.

On leaving the village we came off the country road and onto a rough track which was to lead us through Coed-y-Brenin Forest. Fun and games later we landed safely at the visitor centre where we came across Graeham and Steve who were having their bikes fixed after doing a bit more off-roading than the rest of us!!

Heading through Dolgellau we found the campsite easily enough and were welcomed in by the support team. A good curry was rustled up and everyone tucked in... again an early night was had by all for the hard ride the next day to Llanidloes.
